Blinken added that he was deeply shocked by the killings in Bucha. He promised that the United States and its allies would jointly ensure accountability by documenting reported violations and bringing them to the international human rights council.
The Associated Press news agency, citing a US government official, said the additional assistance was for the delivery of Javelin anti-shirt missiles.
The United States reacted strongly to the massacre in Bucha. The US has asked the UN General Assembly to suspend Russia’s membership of the Human Rights Council.
Earlier the US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said on Monday April 4 2022. The suspension of Russia’s membership due to the tragedy of the mass killings in Bucha. Ukraine has accused Russian troops of killing scores of civilians in the Bucha area, a town not far from Kyiv.
According to Thomas-Greenfield, Russia’s participation in the Human Rights Council was a joke after the Bucha massacre. “And it’s wrong, which is why we believe it’s time the UN General Assembly voted to abolish it.” he said speaking in Bucharest, as reported by Reuters.
Russia has denied its forces were responsible for the civilian deaths in the city of Bucha and said Ukraine had put on a show for Western media.
